Men's Cross Country Team '06 State Runner-up

Only the best teams in the State of North Carolina earn the opportunity to race in the State Championship. To qualify atteam must be in the top four from their respective Region. With four regions, the top sixteen teams then compete for the State Championship.

Hayesville men's team entered the race as the defending State Champion from 2005.

The team gave it all they had, but in the end were edged out and finished as the 2006 State Runner up, out of the 92 1A schools in the State.

The team was led by the State Individual men's champion, Kyle Ingram. He an fellow runner, Levi Gentle ran number one and five in the race each earning All-State for the race finishes in the top ten. Teammates: Scan Henrikson, Ryan Gentle, Kyle Lickteig, Tyier Marcoux and Paul Anderson, gave the team a score to earn the second overall spot.

This year's team won thirteen of their fifteen races, won the Smoky Mountain Conference title for the second year in a row and won the 1AWest Region for the second year in a row.

The team completes an exceptional season and is worthy of the admiration of their school and community.

We are very proud of this exceptional group of young men.
