Joyce R. Horton
South Carolina native, personal caregiver

Joyce R. Horton, age 76, of Hayesville, NC formerly of Greenwood, SC passed away Monday, November 13, 2006 at Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, NC. Mrs. Horton was a native of Greenwood SC and had also resided for many years in Aiken, SC. She moved to Hayesville, NC, in 2005 to be closer to her son. She loved all her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a daughter of the late Edgar and Hazel Holly Riddle. She had worked for many years as a personal caregiver. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and a member of the Red Hat Society in Greenwood, SC, and Hiawassee, Ga. She was a member of the Alder's Gate United Methodist Church in Greenwood, SC.

Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Ray Watson; and a daughter, Hollie Ann Horton who passed away in 1989. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Cheryl Horton of Murphy, NC; a brother, Ray "Shorty" Riddle of Greenwood, SC; a sister, Gloria Bowden of Augusta, Georgia; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial

service will be held

at 2 p.m., Thursday,

November 16, 2006

at the Ranger Baptist

Church in Murphy, NC.

The Rev. L. B. Adams will

officiate. Inurnment will be in the Ranger Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of her daughter, Hollie Ann Horton, to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10017.
