Food Pantry seeks donations of food or cash for operations Come by the Food Pantry on any Friday morning from 9- 1, and you will find anywhere from six to 10 or 15 volunteers busy waiting on folks, filling boxes, sorting food delivered from MANNA, shelving food for future use, maintaining records, doing all those things that a busy and expanding volunteer organization must do on a regular basis. On a typical Friday at least 120 boxes of food are provided, often as many as 150 boxes will be given to those who have demonstrated their need. These 120 to 150 boxes supply a portion of a weeks food to as many as 157 senior adults; 600 adults; and 363 children. For the month of October the Food Pantry filled and delivered 564 boxes, helping 458 families. October was a busy month, still a typical month. Early this month, November, a huge donation of canned goods arrived at the Pantry. This donation came from the Middle School students here in Hayesville. Nearly 750 items were collected by these students and brought to the Pantry. We were blessed, encouraged and thankful for the generous spirit being fostered in these young people. And they were heartily thanked! Both food and cash donations are essentially the only way we are able to provide foods to those in our county who are truly needy. Won't you help us?
