Folk School reading and holiday concert
"The story's message and language are so well written that it is understood and appreciated by both children and adults," Groves stated. In the familiar story, miser Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future who, in the course of a night, convince him to abandon his "bah, humbug" ways. According to Grove, the story conveys the personal meaning of Christmas, including the joy of family, memories of childhood, and the triumph of the human spirit.
Immediately following the reading, David, Kathleen and Austin Brose will perform sacred and secular holiday classics. The audience will be invited to sing along as the Brose family plays a variety of instruments including banjo, guitar, mandolin and ukulele.
