The outgoing Clay County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday and got right down to business.
First on the agenda was a minor item, approving the minutes from the previous meeting of the board.
The second item was an extension of the county's contract with Pease Associates, the architectural firm for the courthouse project.
That contract was scheduled to end on Dec. 25 of this year. The commissioners decided to extend that contract through next year, until the project is completed.
For $51,000, Pease will inspect the new courthouse on a weekly basis to ensure that work has been done in accordan ce with the specifications, giving the commission an extra set of eyes on the work.
The new commissioners, Hub Cheeks and Harry Jarrett, will join returning commissioner Doc Sellers on the new board. Their first meeting will be Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room.
