Mountain Arts Association members looked like they were having as much fun as the children who came to their Holiday Workshop for kids 4–12 at Brasstown Valley Resort. The workshop was open to the public and children were there from Towns, Union, and Clay (N.C.) counties.
Bringing out children’s natural creativity was the object as well as going home with handmade gingerbread houses, gingerbread men cookies, Christmas cards, snowflakes and their own creations on wrapping paper. What fun they had! Barbara Pittman and Melanie Clem were co-chairs for the event along with their elves: Susan Annesi, Loreen Avery, Virginia Hunter, Flo Swartz, Kathy Chastain, and Pat Neubert.
Pittman said that with parents, grandparents and children they estimated a hundred people were there. “Then they could have lunch for just $6 and a free picture taken with Santa Claus,” said Pittman, “all provided by Brasstown Valley Resort. Mountain Arts Association hopes to make this an annual event.”
