John Schneidenbach Clay County resident, retired telephone employee

John Schneidenbach, 75, of Hayesville died Sunday, December 10, 2006, at his residence. A native of Newark, NJ, he had lived 52 years in Jacksonville and Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.

In 1987, he bought a home in Hayesville and enjoyed summer vacation here until moving permanently in 1999.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army in the Presidential Honor Guard at Fort McNair in Washington, DC. He retired after 40 years with the Southern Bell Telephone Company during some of the most exciting times of the space program at Cape Canaveral, Fla. He was of the Catholic faith. John was a kind and loving man who touched everyone who knew him by these qualities. He loved all animals and would do anything he could to help those in distress. He loved life and had many talents, which included woodworking, stained glass, and photography. He was his daughter’s best “buddy” and always will be. He will be terribly missed by his family, which includes two dogs and a cat.

John fought a long, hard battle with cancer, but never lost hope for a cure. He faced this challenge

with the

utmost dignity and

always managed to

have a smile on his face. He was truly a remarkable man.

He was preceded in

death by his parents, Paul and Helen Kelly Schneidenbach; a son, John Richard “Ricky” Schneiden-bach; and four brothers. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Jean Friederich Schneidenbach; a daughter, Debbie Schneidenbach of Hayesville; and a brother, Robert Schneidenbach of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

No services are planned.

The family requests memorials be made in loving memory of John Schneidenbach to the Valley River Humane Society, 7450 US 19, Marble, NC 28905.

Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of arrangements.
