Ingram is 1A Men’s State Champion

Kyle Ingram — State Champion
Stella Snowden and Levi Gentle 2006 All-State

Kyle Ingram came off a disappointing race in the West Region Championship where he finished 4th overall after leading the race though 2.5 miles. He developed a back cramp and was unable to win as he had planned. Kyle learned from that race and did not go out as fast in the State Championship race, yet led wire to wire and finished first out of the 125 best runners in the State. Kyle’s time was by no means slow. He ran the first mile with a 5:03 split and finished the race in a time of 16:21 over the 3.1 mile course to earn the title of 2006 Men’s State Champion.

Joining Kyle on the All-State team was teammate: Levi Gentle. Levi and Kyle are two-time consecutive All-State runners. To earn All-State honors, a runner must finish in the top ten in the race. Levi finished 5th overall to earn his second All-State honor.

Both Kyle and Levi set new marks in the HHS men’s record for the 3.1 mile during the season. Levi first broke his own record for 2005, by running a 16:40 at the Murphy Invitational. Kyle ends up with the record with his 16:21 run at the State Championship meet.

Stella Snowden has earned All-State honors for three years. She has been on three of the four consecutive State Championship women’s teams and led her team to the 4th consecutive title this year. Stella is the only senior on this year’s team and has set a standard for the other eight women to follow. In addition to being All-State, Stella was the 2006 West Region Champion, winning against the best runners in the West Region.

Congratulation to these exceptional runners. Your team, school and community are very proud of each of you.
