Brasstown Concert Assoc. to hold event

Elise Witt and Mick Kinney in concert Sunday, Feb. 11, 3 p.m. with local, global and homemade songs, presented by Brasstown Concert Association.

The concert will be held in the Community Room, Keith House, at John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown, NC.

Tickets: Adults: $12; Students: $6.

TCCC to help students with FAFSA forms

Tri-County Community College is participating in FAFSA Day 2007 on February 17, 2007 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Financial aid officers will be available to help students and their families complete and submit their FAFSA forms.

2006 W2 forms and/or tax returns for both students and parents are required to complete the FAFSA. Main Campus. Call 835- 4220 for more information.

Free WRAP classes offered in Clay Co.

Free weekly WRAP classes are being offered every Tuesday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. in Clay County at the Hayesville Office of Murphy Counseling (the old Smoky Mountain Center). Wellness Recovery Action Planning, i.e. WRAP, is a 10-week course that teaches you an approach for managing mental health and/or substance abuse symptoms that are interfering with your life.

WRAP can provide you with HOPE that you can recover and reach for your goals!

Certified facilitators are employees of Meridian Behavioral Health Services and have reached a place in their own recovery to offer hope, education, and support to others. Classes are free and you can begin at any time. Come join us as we explore proven ways to regain our wellness. There is HOPE for a better life! Every Wednesday between 4 and 7 pm, diabetes instruction is available free of charge at the Moss Library in Hayesville. The emphasis will be on understanding what diabetes is and how to do carbohydrate counting. Bring your logbooks, questions, and meters with you, Family members are also welcome.

Hidden Treasures Thrift Shop

Diabetes Support Group to meet

The Diabetes Support Group will meet at Moss Library in Hayesville on Wednesday January 31 at 4 pm. Everyone is welcome. Please enter by the rear door this time.

Licklog Players holding auditions

Auditions for Licklog Players' production of On Golden Pond will be held Saturday, February 17, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Monday, February 19, from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville.

Edie Kleinpeter is back once again to direct this warm and wonderful love story of two aging retirees who are returning to their summer home for the 44th year. Beginning Tuesday, February 20, evening rehearsals will be held Monday - Friday, from 7 - 10 with possible limited weekend rehearsals. Performance dates for this show are will be March 30 - April 1, & April 6 - 8. For information please call the Licklog office, Monday through Friday, 9am - 1pm.

Licklog Players also welcomes individuals interested in participating in the backstage portion of the production such as set building, set painting, costuming, lighting and sound, as well as people to help man the lobby on opening nights as ushers, concessionaires and raffle ticket takers. We are also interested in anyone out there who has any knowledge of lighting and sound who would be interested in helping us out during productions. Tri-State Model Railroaders to meet

All model railroaders are invited to our next meeting to be held on Monday Feb. 5. It will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Luthern Church, 823 Forge Mill Road at Hiway 515, Morganton, Ga. Meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Refreshments will be served.

DAR Chapter to meet Feb. 10 in Jasper, Ga.

The February meeting of the DAR Chapter will be held Saturday, February 10 at the Woodbridge Inn in Jasper, Georgia. Please meet at United Community Bank parking lot in Blairsville at 10 a.m. to carpool. Luncheon cost is $18.

"Georgia and American-ism" will be the subject of a talk presented by guest speaker, Roy Hamby. Hostesses will be Sarah Strickland and Dot Rogers.

Friends of NRA to hold dinner, auction

Friends of the NRA will hold a dinner and auction on Saturday, March 31, at the National Guard Armory in Murphy.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20; all net proceeds benefit youth education, range development, conservation efforts and many other qualified educational programs.

Sylva High alumni plan reunion

Former students of Sylva Central High School are organizing a reunion for all students who attended the school any time from its opening in 1924 through its closing in 1960. The reunion is scheduled for Saturday, July 28, at Western Carolina University's Ramsey Center. The planning meetings for this reunion are held at the Jackson County Genealogical Society at 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month. Further information about the reunion should be coming to former students through the mail.
