The 21-member committee consists of a mix of members from the community, which includes individuals with financial/economic/business backgrounds, educational backgrounds, both current and past, healthcare experience, representatives from local government bodies, and currentemployees of the college from faculty and staff. Larry Kernea, Chairman of the TCCC Board of Trustees, stressed to the committee the importance of the selection to the college and the community. "When you choose someone, let it be someone who can work for your community," he said. "Let it be someone you can be proud of." With this direction in mind, the group generated and prioritized a large list of attributes that will be developed into a written summary for advertising purposes. Vicki Greene of the Southwestern Planning Commission facilitated the session.
The committee will review applications and make recommendations on whom to interview. An eight member Executive Search Committee will conduct interviews and narrow the field to four candidates to be delivered for consideration by the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees will select three to be reviewed by the State Board of Community Colleges. The State Board will then return acceptable candidates to the Board of Trustees, who will then elect a candidate to be hired by the State Board.
