By Ann B. Doran Sentinel writer

Jeanne and Jim Martin, western music's award-winning duo, took center stage on Saturday night at the Peacock Playhouse and gave the audience even more talent than e x p e c t a t i o n s could have bargained for. The duo yodeled (a skill for which they are r e n o w n e d c h a m p i o n s ) , sang, and dispensed loving humor while playing authentic western tunes from the '30s, '40s, '50s and even '70s cowboy music.

This second of three Peacock Playhouse fundraising concerts made for a well attended Saturday evening - audience buzz was that they were really enjoying this dynamic married singing duo, who are currently playing daily at Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The Martins have only recently moved here to Appalachia from their beloved New Mexico. Fans will want to drive over to Pigeon Forge to catch their act.

Chef Dennis Barber of The Copper Door restaurant, slated to open March 13 in Hayesville, provided intermission refreshments with a slight western flavored hint. Fans enjoyed hot mini shiskabobs, celantro'd crab tarts and hummus on pita.

Western Night at the Peacock Playhouse was definitely a "yee-ha!" night according to the crowd's responses.
