Five arrested in drug operation
Sheriff continues to crack down on illicit drugs dealers
By Frank Bradley Sentinel writer

Lucille Marie Bettie
Tips from concerned citizens regarding the appearance of illegal drug activity in their neighborhoods have helped local law-enforcement officers with their investigations and led to several arrests.

Last week, the Clay County Sheriff, officers from the narcotics unit and deputies from Cherokee County conducted a search of the Bettie residence in Warne, where they found 40 grams of methamphetamine, assorted pills, marijuana, drug paraphenalia, a firearm and bullet proof vest, along with $1,100 in cash.

At the residence, agents found Dale Bettie, Jessica Murray and Ramon Peralta, who were arrested. Lucille Bettie and Andria Nagy were arrested at a later time.

According to Sheriff Joe Shook, he and the multiple agency narcotics unit had received many complaints about Dale and Lucille Betty of 3916 Old Highway 64 in Warne along with other co-conspirators and their illicit drug dealings in the community.

"We invested many hours of investi- gation into this particular problem," Shook said.

Two months before the arrest, undercover agents purchased methamphetamine from Lucille Bettie, Jessica Murray and Andria Nagy at the residence of Lucille Bettie, the sheriff's report read. Months following the purchase, agents continued to conduct surveillance on the Bettie residence and continued to gather intelligence on further illegal activities there and of the persons involved.
