Jackets & Lady Jackets defeat Murphy

The Hayesville High School varsity baseball team took on the Murphy Bulldogs last Friday and came away with an 11 to 1 victory.
Virtually every player got a piece of the ball for the Jackets, who had 16 hits, including a home run by C.J. Crowder.
Cory Cox led off with a run in the first inning; Hayesville picked up two more runs in the 2nd and five runs in the 4th. Cox, Vaughn, Crowder and Ian McLamb each came across homeplate twice in the game.
Josh Tratham was the winning pitcher for the Yellow Jackets.
Earlier in the week, Hayesville posted a 15 to 10 loss to the Franklin Panthers, who were able to get on base and score a number of runs in the first three innings.
As the Sentinel went to press, the Yellow Jackets were squared off with the Robbinsville Black Knights. The game being played at Hayesville.
The Lady Jackets also took on the Lady Bulldogs on Friday and defeated them 11 to 7.
In that game Dancer, Martin, Allison and Gonyea each scored two runs, while James, Rogers and Long scored a run apiece.
