Attention pet owners: cat and dog food causes death Hayesville and surrounding areas be aware of the Pet Food Recall, regarding wet food made by Menufoods, and distributed by Wal*Mart under several names. Other distributors are also included in this recall. As of Saturday, March 17, 2007 Wal* Mart has removed the food from their shelves. The recall covers several different foods, primarily with gravy components, with the dates December 3rd- March 6. The recall does not affect all varieties of the different food. MenuFoods is THE leading North- American private-label/contract manufactures of wet pet food sold bt supermarkets retailers, mass merchandisers, pet speciality retailers and other retail and wholesale outlets. In 2006, the Fund produced more than one billion containers. Two cats have passed away from Kidney Failure in the Hayesville area after eating the food in the foil pouches under the name. " Special Kitty," which is on the Recall list, and the UPC codes match the Recall List. This has effected our household personally so I would like to make others aware of this. The most common signs of kidney failure (Renal Failure) are: not eating and lethargy, some vomiting. If your pet is experiencing any symptoms, please call your veterinarian immediately. I hope no one else has animals that have passed away from this as it is a long suffering death.
