Jackets Win over Robbinsville!

The Hayesville High School Boys Baseball team and the Hayesville High School Softball team scored large victories against Robbinsville last week.

The girls won 16 to one with scores by virtually all the starting players. Carissa Dancer picked up three runs, while Chelsey Martin, Amanda James, Emily Rogers and Cayce O'Connor each picked up two runs; Ashlin Soltys, Jessica Gonyea and Hillary Long scored a run apiece.Amanda James was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jackets.

The boys game was also a rout with the jackets defeating the Black Knights by a scoreof 18 to 2. In that game 14 of Hayesville's players crossed home plate. The game was called after only four innings of play. There were really no long ball hitters for theJackets, although C. J. Crowder got a double and drove in three runs.

The Jackets were set to take on Blue Ridge on Tuesday as the Sentinel went to press. The Lady Jackets will also play Rosman in a home game on Friday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.

Although basketball season is over, it wasn't quite over last week as two varsity boys werre picked to play in the Rhododendron Civitan Blue- White Game held at T.C. Roberson in Asheville on Friday.

Cory Cox and Ricky Davis were part of the ten man team representing the West facing off against the East. The only other Smoky Mountain Conference teams represented were Corey Eller of Murphy and Whitney Galloway of Rosman.

It was a tight game with the White team losing to the Blue East by a score of 90 to 87.
