Track Teams Show Strength at Swain

The men and women track team competed

in a five team meet at swain High School on

Wednesday , September 21st . Hayesville finished first in the men's meet and second in the

women's meet. Teams competing other than Hayesville were: Cherokee, Murphy , Rosman

and Swain.

In the women's competition, Stella Snowden led her team with two first place finishes: the 800 and the 1600 meters. The 4x800 Relay team of Courtney Sheldon, Holly Runstrom , Heather Richbourg and Stella Snowden also earned first against the other four teams. The team also qualified three more events to the West Region Championship. In the men's competition, the men earned first place overall finish against the other teams. Jonathon Shively led his team with two first place finishes: the Long Jump and the Triple Jump. Nick Jones was first overall in the Discus and Sean Henrikson finished first in the 800 meters. The team qualified two more events to the West Region Championships.

Both teams will next compete at their home meet on Wednesday, March 28th. Teams competing in the meet hosted by Hayesville will be: Murphy, Robbinsville and Swain. The meet begins at 3:30 pm.
