Elizabeth (BETSY) Williams

Betsy Williams passed away suddenly on March 27, 2007 in Hayesville, North Carolina and is survived by her beloved husband Ted Williams. She was the loving mother of Nancy and Gordon Stafford, Oxford, Md.; Sandy and Mary Lynn Munro, Aspen Col.; Bobby and Judy Stephens, Laurel, Md.; Mike and SteffiStephens, Alpharetta, Ga.; Joe Stephens, Hayesville, N.C., stepchildren, Marvin and Sue Williams, Ontario, Canada; Rickey and Debbie Sczelecki, Oakville, Canada; 18 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She is the beloved and devoted sister of Theodore [Ted] Magnuson, of Columbus, Oh. and Indialantic, Fla.

Her husbands, Lt.j.g. Uri Alexander Munro, USN and Robert Lowe Stephens predeceased Betsy. She was also predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Claire Magnuson, her brothers, Dr.Robert Magnuson, Arthur Magnuson and William Magnuson, all of Bexley, Ohio.

Betsy was active in Washington D.C and Maryland area with The Towne Club, The Woman's' Committee for the National Symphony Orchestra, The National Republican Committee where she entertained

Pat Nixon at her home during Richard Nixon's campaign, the Red Cross, Prince Georges County Hospital Guild,` The Adelphians'.

While living in Sebring, Fla. she was active in The Sebring Historical Society, Highlands Little Theatre, and a 1972 charter member of The D.O.W.'s. She was an avid

golfer and taught bridge at Harder Hall.

In Hayesville, N.C., she had been active in several bridge clubs, The Hayesville Historical Society, and former president of The Woman's 18 holers golf group at Chatugue Golf Club. She was a Grand Master Bridge Player.

A celebration of her life was held with the family and close friends at her mountain home in Hayesville.
