Medford Brown Medford Brown, 88, of Warne died Monday (March 26, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. A native of Haywood County, he had lived in Clay County since 1952. He was the son of the late Fate and Addie Hall Brown. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army in India building gas supply lines. He was a retired construction worker and farmer. He was a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and the VFW Post 6812 in Hayesville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Brown. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Zelma "Bill" Brown; a daughter, Betty Jo Redmond and husband, Jim of Warne; a brother, Frank Fuller and wife, Jennie of Rogersville, AL; two grandchildren, Deborah Dowdy of Dawsonville, GA and Jeffrey Cheek of Clermont, GA; and five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held 11:00 AM Thursday (March 29) in the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Stiles and Herbert Henderson officiating. Interment in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73, VFW Post 10222, and Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol). Pallbearers: Jeff Cheek, Rex Ledford, Matthew and Adam Fuller, Jack Hogsed, and John Bigger. The family received friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. The family requests memorials be made in memory of Medford Brown to the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 190, Warne, NC 28909.
