Famed story teller will narrate at symphony

Narration by award-winning storyteller and historian David Holt, an influential storyteller, musician, historian and entertainer, will accompany the North Carolina Symphony's Capital Bank Blue Skies and Red Earth tour when it stops at Tri-County Community College on May 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Holt's enthusiasm for folk music flourished when he moved to Western North Carolina and began listening to the traditional music of the mountains while immersing himself in that culture. Holt has established himself as an influential musician and entertainer dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music and stories. In 1975, he pioneered the study of traditional music and dance in the classroom by founding the Appalachian Music Program at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, N.C. Holt is also a four time Grammy award-winning banjoist. Today, he remains dedicated to incorporating traditional music and stories in all his performances and concerts.
