Final Brasstown concert of the season
By Kathi Osborne

In the final concert of its thirty-third season, Brasstown Concert Association will present Tamara Meinecke, violinist, on Sunday, April 22 at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown.

"Meinecke, accompanied by pianist Kristen Kinman, will offer a well-balanced program of chamber music for violin and piano," said Karen Borchers, BCA President. "We're thrilled to have a returning favorite artist close out what's been an excellent season." According to Meinecke, the repertoire will range from J.S. Bach music for unaccompanied violin through Romantic masterworks and "a few light-hearted bon-bons for dessert."

The program will feature the Second Violin Sonata by American Charles Ives, which depicts two scenes of late-nineteenth/ early-twentieth-century life: a religious tent revival meeting and a barn dance, and which concludes with a rhapsody on the American hymn known as "Come Thou Font of Every Blessing."

Meinecke plays in the firstviolin section of the Louisville Orchestra, and began her fulltime professional professional orchestra career in the Nashville S y m p h o n y O r c h e s t r a . She is also an active teacher and recitalist. For nine years, she has been the first violinist in a string quartet that plays in L o u i s v i l l e - area elementary schools.

The concert on Sunday, April 22 will begin at 3 p.m. in the Keith House at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. No reservations are required and seating is by general admission. Adult tickets are $12 and student tickets are $6. For more information, call 828-389-0033.
