Danny Bernstein's Hiking the Carolina mountains
"A valuable, informative- and needed- addition to any hiker's library."
- Leonard Adkins, author of Walking the Blue Ridge
Join us Sunday, April 29th from 1-4pm for a book signing and discussion of D a n n y B e r n s t e i n ' s Hiking the C a r o l i n a M o u n t a i n s . The event will take place at the Folk Art C e n t e r , Blue Ridge P a r k w a y , M i l e p o s t 382.
D a n n y B e r n s t e i n 's Hiking the C a r o l i n a Mountains recommends 57 day hikes, ranging from 2 to 13 miles in length, with destinations including the waterfalls of Dupont State Forest, the Blue Ridge Parkway's beautiful Craggy Gardens, the ruins of George Vanderbilt's palatial Buck Spring hunting lodge on Mt. Pisgah, and the summit of Cold Mountain. Each hike description includes everything you need to know to get out on the trail: maps and detailed directions, mileage and elevation gain, trail highlights, fees and hiking regulations, and even films and novels related to each hike location.
Bernstein takes hikers beyond the most well known hikes in the region. Hiking the Carolinas is the first hiking guidebook to include Dupont State Forest, Panthertown Valley near Cashiers, and Green River Game Lands near Hendersonville in North Carolina, and also lists eight hikes in upstate South Carolina, an area largely undocumented in other guidebooks.
Danielle "Danny" Bernstein has been hiking all her life. An Appalachian Trail end-to-ender and a contributor
