Final concert of 33rd season for Brasstown Concert Association Tamara Meinecke, violinist, will perform in the final concert of the Brasstown Concert Association's thirty-third season on Sunday, April 22, at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. The program will consist of works by composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, J.S. Bach, Bela Bartok, Jules Massenet, and Charles Ives. Kristen Kinman will accompany Meinecke on piano. Meinecke plays in the firstviolin section of the Louisville Orchestra, and began her fulltime professional orchestra career in the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. She is also an active teacher and recitalist. For nine years, she has been the first violinist in a string quartet that plays in Louisvillearea elementary schools. Meinecke said she "thrills to the children's rapt attention and emotional responses" as she plays "supposedly difficult and abstract" music by J.S. Bach for unaccompanied violin. Meinecke's favorite postperformance student exchange was "Why do you close your eyes sometimes when you play?" which she said was immediately answered by another student: "'Cause she's deep into it, man!" Though Meinecke grew up in a Navy family and now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, she calls Brasstown her adopted hometown. "Louisville is where the job, the house, and the gar- den are, but Brasstown is where the dancing is!" stated Meinecke. The concert is underwritten by Henry M. Meinecke, MD, P.A. "Our grateful appreciation and thanks are extended to Dr. Henry Meinecke for his generous support of this concert," stated BCA President Karen Borchers. "It's through the support of area businesses such as his that the Concert Association is able to present high-calibre, professional-level concerts each year to our community." The concert on Sunday, April 22 will begin at 3:00pm in the Keith House at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. No reservations are required and seating is by general admission. Adult tickets are $12 and student tickets are $6. For more information, call 828-389-0033.
The concert is supported in part by the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts.
