Kick the Habit Day
Reminder of "Kick The Habit" to be held on the Square Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 - to go with the art work done by HHS student Sara Pruett.

The Clay County Tobacco Awareness Group, CCTAG, from Hayesville High School, will be holding Kick the Habit Day on Thursday evening from 5:30 - 7:30 on The Square in Downtown Hayesville.

This is a family event to help residents "Kick the Habit" of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. CCTAG will provide entertainment, balloon art, face painting and food, all free to the public. Information on the dangers of substance abuse will be available.

Residents are invited to attend and stop by the information booth to register for a free pair of shoes donated by Tiger's Department Store located in Downtown Hayesville.

Twelve hundred pairs of shoes will be placed around the square Thursday to represent the lives lost each day due to the use of tobacco. An additional 342 people die each day from alcohol-related deaths and 47 die each day from illegal drug use.Individuals can write a "Because I Care" note In Honor Of, In Memory Of or in Hope Of. The notes will be placed along side a pair of shoes on The Square. Forms have been designed with artwork by HHS students.

This special community event is being made possible by the partnership of the Coalition for a Safe and Drug Free Clay County, CIS, Clay County Health Department, Clay County Healthy Carolinians Partnership, and MMMC.
