HAROLD EUGENE LANCE

Harold Eugene Lance, age 65, of Hayesville, NC formerly of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the Murphy Medical Center in Murphy, NC.

Mr. Lance was a native of Union County, Georgia and the son of Ruby Jewell Nix Lance of Blairsville, Georgia and the late Coy Ledford Lance. He was a US Army veteran with the 82nd Airbourne. He was the owner and pharmacist at Town and Country Drug Center in Hayesville, NC.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Anita Moore Lance; four sons, Major John Alexander Lance of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Kenny Ray Lance and hisb wife Mary Strickland of Hayesville, NC, Corporal Joshua Allen Lance of Camp LeJune, NC and Charles Wesley Lance of Huttonsville, West Virginia; two daughters and their husbands, Pegg Ann Hall and Scott of Birmingham, Alabama and Cindy Lynn Shook and Tommy of Hayesville, NC; one brother, Ted Lanceof Blairsville, GA; one sister, Judy Johnson of Blairsville, GA; four grandchildren, Danny Lance, Tia Shook, Becky Shook and Crystal Clark; one great-grandson, Conner; and twelve nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Oak Forest United Methodist Church in Hayesville, NC. Dr. Jackie Sellers and Revs. Jacob Kyker, Bob Bone and Guinnell Hunter officiated. Interment was at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Blairsville, Georgia with Military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Organizations: Murphy V. F. W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D. A. V. Chapter #73 and Clay County V. F. W. Post #6812.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8:00 P.M, Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Townson Rose Chapel in Hayesville, NC where Mr. Lance remained until placed in the church one hour prior to the service hour. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made In Memory of Harold Eugene Lance to the Oak Forest United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 152, Hayesville, NC 28904.
