The men and women track teams ran in the Robbinsville Relay meet on Wednesday, April 19th to tune up for the upcoming SMC Championship.

This meet provides opportunity for some of the younger runners to show their potential and allow the more experienced team members to achieve on last attempt in their events before getting into the championship part of the season.

The women's team was led by the first place finishes of Madelaine Roberts and Stella Snowden. Madelaine was first in the high jump and the long jump; while Stella was first in the 1600 meters and teamed with Courtney Sheldon, Holly Runstrom, and Heather Richbourg to win the 4x400 Relay.

In the men's competition, Kyle Ingram and Jonathan Shively led their team. Kyle was first in the 1600 meters and Jonathan was first in the men's long jump.

The team will next compete in the Smoky Mountain Conference Championship meet to be hosted by Swain on Wednesday, April 25th.

After the conference

championship the teams will be in the State Play-offs, beginning with the Region meet in Polk County. The men and women teams have qualified in 16 of the possible 18 events. In order to qualify to the Regions, a competitor must meet the minimum time or distance in their event. The top four competitors from the Region will then be entered into the State Championship.
