Easily stop home water damage

It's hard to predict what the weather will be like this year since abnormal weather patterns have become all the more common as of late. Last year proved to be wetter than average in terms of precipitation fall, which means the land surrounding your home could be saturated, looking for any place to escape. In many cases, this runoff ends up infiltrating the house. All it takes is a little water entering to ruin carpeting, walls and furnishings. Make sure you don't have to face the same water-related problems this season.

Prevent the basement or lower levels of the home from flooding with a product like Flood-Guard®. Available for 2-, 3-, and 4- inch floor drains, it seals off water backup caused by overloaded sewers. In typical cases, water flows through sewer drains until the sewer backs up, resulting in a flooded basement. But when installed, this device prevents flooding by rising to seal the drain's opening until the water recedes.

A screwdriver and a couple of minutes are all you need to install the product. Once in place, it can prevent property damage and a messy clean up job. Flood- Guard is also available in a standpipe model for handling extreme, extended pressure.

The product is available at local plumbing supply stores, hardware stores and home centers. For more information, visit www.drainbrain.com/specialties.
