She was a member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lady's Auxiliary, the Clay County Home Demonstration Club and the Young Harris College Alumni Association. Volunteering with the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, a local Cub Scout Troop and as a 4-H Club leader, she enjoyed giving to others.

In her retirement years, Evelyn enjoyed time at home on the family farm, baking, raising flowers, playing the piano, gospel singing and traveling with her husband.
