"Harvey" opens May 18th at the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville. This Pulitzer Prize winning comedy is as funny now as it was when it opened on Broadway in 1944. The play follows kind, gentle Elwood P. Dowd (Wayne Roshaven) who is a friend to everyone. However, it happens that his best friend is a six-foot tall, invisible, white rabbit named Harvey. Dowd's sister, Veta (Virginia Mattox), finally has had enough of being embarrassed and decides to commit her brother to the local sanitarium.

There, Doctor Chumley (David Spivey), chief psychiatrist, meets his match. The ending has a wonderful, satisfying conclusion. Timeless shows like "Harvey" have more than just surface humor or plot. "Harvey" has lasted because the warmth and the loveable, fun characters that make the audience really care.
