Bill E. Roberts Bill E. Roberts, 71, of Hayesville died Saturday (May 12, 2007) in an Asheville hospital. He was a native of Roane County, WV, where he had lived most of his life before moving to Clay County in 1997. He was the son of the late Bronze E. and Ruth McCully Roberts and was the husband of the late Garnet Merrill Roberts, who died in 1994. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Bill had worked as a policeman for the City of Spencer, WVand had retired from Kaiser Aluminum in plant protection / EMS. He was a member of the Track Rock Baptist Church in Blairsville, GA. He had been active in life working with many youth groups. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nelda Rae Gregg. Surviving are his wife, Karen Alvis Roberts; a daughter, Terry Holland of Murphy; two sons, Michael D. Roberts and John D. Roberts both of Spencer, WV; a sister, Ella Mae Greathouse of Spencer; a brother, Danny Roberts of Ocala, FL; two grandchildren, Sarah Holland and Lewis Holland; and a greatb granddaughter, Sierra Holland. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Spencer, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Bill E. Roberts to the American Diabetes Association, Greenville Office, 16-A Brozzini Court, Greenville, SC 29615. Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville in charge of all arrangements.
