Men's team earns medal
Buck Carney Coach

Levi Gentle leads the pack in the 3200 meter run.
The Hayesville High SChool men's track team demonstrated they have some great runners at the state championship meet held at Greensboro on Friday, May 11. The team finished 22nd against the other 41 men's teams in the meet.

Medals are awarded to the top four competitors in each event. There are 16 in each event. The men's 4x800 relay team of Ryan Gentle, Sean Henrikson, Kyle Ingram and Levi Gentle got things started with their 4th place overall finish. Later in the meet, Kyle Ingram ran to a 5th place finish in the 1600 meters and Levi Gentle ran to a 5th place finish in the 3200 meters.

The 4x200 relay team of Sean Henrikson, Tyler Hyatt, Jordan Jones and Josh Holloway just missed point honors, finishing 10th overall in the event.

Jonathan Shively was well on his way to scoring in the men's triple jump, but had to scratch out of the event due to an injury to his leg.

The young team learned some great lessons from the state meet and this only inspired them to put forth the effort to come back again. They did an exceptional job and all of Hayesville should be proud of their efforts.
