Icie Lois Laney Williamson

Icie Lois Laney Williamson, age 77, of Ivy Log Road, Warne, NC died Monday, May 14, 2007 at her home.

A native of Cherokee County, NC, she was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County and Clay County, NC and had worked as a seamstress at Clayco Mfg. She was a member of the Little Brasstown Baptist Church and enjoyed carving and sewing quilts. Mrs. Williamson was a daughter of the late Floyd Laney and Gertrude Elizabeth Hartness Laney and was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leslie Williamson; and four brothers, Jake Laney, James Floyd Laney, Leon Luke Laney and Johnny L. Laney.

She is survived by a son, Floyd Williamson of Warne, NC; three daughters, Mary Ruth English and husband Billy English of Warne, NC, Jo-Ann Shaw and husband John Shaw of Hopatcong, New Jersey and Muriel Williamson of Hillsborough, NC; a brother, Taft Laney of Marion, NC; four sisters, Georgie Tweed of Lakeside, Oregon, Dorothy Davis of Macon, Georgia, Julie Kilby of Murphy, NC and Margaret Tweed of Andrews, NC; three grandchildren, Katherine English, Jeremiah Williamson and Deirdre Williamson; and one great-granddaughter, Tessa Tarantino.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Little Brasstown Baptist Church in Brasstown, NC. The Rev. Aud Brown officiated. Interment was in the Little Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Larry Dockery, Danny Owens, Floyd Williamson, Jeremiah Williamson, Steve Duquenoy and John Shaw.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC, where Mrs. Williamson remained until placed in the church one hour prior to the service hour.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Icie Lois Laney Williamson to the Little Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 12, Brasstown, NC 28902.
