Murphy Library auction Saturday
JULIE CHAUTIN Contributing Writer

French-born Cherokee County resident Denise Talbott is donating a French cooking class and dinner for six to the Friends of Murphy Public Library Auction Local handmade crafts, baskets, art, quilts, and gift certificates are also up for auction
Bob Grove Auctions this Saturday may hold the key to your heart. Handmade quilts, collectibles, antiques, and gift certificates from local merchants are some of the items. There are even special cooking classes with dinner.

The bountiful Silent Auction begins at 5 p.m. at Grove Auctions on Highway 64 East in Brasstown, two miles east of Murphy Medical Center. The Live Auction starts at 7 p.m. As always, admission is free and so are the homemade refreshments.

This year the auction features a special French cooking class and dinner for six people by popular library French teacher, Denise Talbott. Born and raised in Paris by a French mother and grandmother, fabulous food is in her blood.

And if South of the Border is a favorite spot, no problema. Friends president, Fran McCord who spent 35 years in Houston is offering an authentic Tex-Mex cooking class and dinner for five.

The Silent Auction begins at 5 p.m. and is full of gift certificates from generous local merchants as well as smaller merchandise. Starting at 7 p.m. Bob Grove will entertain, cajole, and entice bidders with handcrafts and antiques donated by library patrons and local artists.

This is the third year that Bob and Judy Grove have opened their auction house to the Murphy Library with all proceeds going to the library1s special projects. This year the funds will improve the library area for children and update their media and book selection.

There is no better investment than in the children of Cherokee County. And you may find the key to your heart too. Call the library at 837-2417 for more details, to donate items or make refreshments.
