Local family mourns loss
The evening of May 30, brought a sad event to local family members and two communities. Kristen Ledford, 29, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Hooper Branch Road, off Fodder Creek in Towns County that Wednesday. The fatal accident is still being investigated.
Ledford's wife, Heather Warne Ledford, and son, 4- year-old Mason, lived with him in Hayesville and she works at Chatuge Regional Hospital. Ledford attended both Towns County and Hayesville schools, and then worked with his father, Larry Ledford, as a carpenter. His father-in-law is Randy Warne, Supervisor at the Hiawassee City Water Plant.
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville, on Sunday, June 3, with internment in the Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
