TVA to gather public comments on Mountain Reservoirs Land Management Plan TVA will hold an open house on Thursday, June 21, in Blairsville, Ga., to receive public comments concerning the use of TVA-managed land on Apalachia, Blue Ridge, Chatuge, Fontana, Hiwassee, Nottely, and Ocoee 1, 2, and 3 reservoirs. The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT at the Blairsville Campus of North Georgia Technical College. The public will be able to look at maps of the reservoirs, which will show current designated land uses, and provide comments about the preferred use. TVA develops land management plans for reservoirs to provide clear direction of how TVA intends to manage the reservoir land and to facilitate decision making for the use of the public land. TVA is meeting with interested stakeholders and interest groups to discuss land-use needs before proposing a recommended use for each uncommitted parcel. Development of the land management plan will include an environmental review of the recommended uses in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. TVA will consider the effects of activities in such areas as public recreational use, industrial development and wildlife preservation. Any comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the administrative record and will be available for public inspection.
