Art Center has July classes

Fun, Fast & Furious Acrylics

Thursdays, July 12 - August 9 6 - 8:30 p.m.

Inst: Rosemary Harris

Paint even if you can't draw! Learn to paint what you see, not what you think you see. Bring your own pictures or photos. Students will learn color theory, composition, perspective, etc. and complete one painting each week. This class is geared toward the beginner, but it's a great way to help the experienced painter loosen up.

Collage/Mixed Media

Sat. & Sun. July 14 & 15 10 - 4 p.m.

Inst: Paula Van Huss

Learn to create beautiful, textured, personalized works of art. Students bring old photos or other meaningful items from home to combine with transfers, lace, ribbon, rubber stamping, beads, buttons, etc. Stop by the Art Center to see some of the instructors work.

Woodburning for Color

July 16, 17, 18 & 19 9 - 5 p.m.

Inst: Orchid Davis

Author of two books on woodburning, Ms. Davis has taught for the art center each summer for the past six years. Her realistic style of burning results in an incredibly life-like finished piece. Beginners will receive excellent instruction from one of the best and experienced woodburners will add a new dimension to their work.

There are still a few openings in the Children's Summer Art program: The week of July 9 - 13 there are spots available in Fairy/Elf Castles and Tie Dye, and the week of July 23 - 27 in Tie Dye, Painted Wood Stools (acrylics), Drawing Animals and Manga (Japanese Cartooning). Call now to sign up your child 706.632.2144.
