Riverwalk opens to fanfare
MARCUS KEELY, Sentinel Writer

Nine houses built, 151 to go. For most of the visitors at the grand opening celebration of Riverwalk of Hayesville (a premier active adult community located just outside of the town square), the thought was mind-boggling.

Underneath a tent where food was prepared and served, many looked out across the vast fields surrounding them, trying to envision the 151 "custom designed homes" that will soon populate the horizon.

Over the past year, developers Tighe White and Garland Hogsed have watched their vision and dream grow into a reality. The primary purpose of the community is to serve as a convenient and affordable development for adults. When it is completed the development is slated to contain a community clubhouse, an indoor swimming pool and spa, a mile-long walking trail and a riverside gazebo. All of these amenities will be maintained through small monthly fees that residents will pay. With only nine homes currently completed, the development has a long road ahead of it. However, already five of these nine homes are under contract, meaning that there have been offers made to purchase the houses.
