Sonshine
Changing
By Sherrie Keely

Have you ever turned over in a bed and found yourself wondering what wrong turn you had taken? The honeymoon had long since ceased, and that adorable frog, who was so utterly perfect, is now a toad, covered in warts, croaking loudly like a siren, while perched on a pillow next to you.

What's worse, it's not a nightmare you can wake up from. The years have taken their toll. Patience, kindness and gentleness, along with respect, seem to have evaporated overnight, leaving a sludge of "My way or the highway," "Can't you do anything right?", "When will you ever learn?", or "Just grow up."

Somehow the fairy tale of "happily ever after" became the Bates Motel and you've been in the dark for so long you can't find the door.

Well, 1 Corinthians 13:3-7, in the Message Bible, says: "Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, doesn't have a swelled head, doesn't force itself on others, isn't always 'me first,' doesn't fly off the handle, doesn't keep score of the sins of others, doesn't revel when others grovel, takes pleasure in the flowering truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end. Love never dies."

God's wisdom, found in His Word, can turn any toad into a prince or princess. You just have to take the first step and kiss it.

Thoughts to ponder upon:
"I'm always tired"
Household chores
are never done.

There is always
one more thing
that needs to be cleaned,
cooked, mended,
or put away.
Work is also never done,
there is always
one more item
that needs to be studied,
written, calculated or filed away.
I'm always catching up,
but I'm never "caught up."
When I think I have finished,
terminated, accomplished, resolved,
love starts to feel like
one more thing
that needs to get done.
"Are you more if I am less?"
Are you more if I am less?
Do I breathe your air?
Or fly in your space?
When I take up more room,
do you become constrained?
Do you value me more,
when I'm beholden to you?
Do you value me less,
when I'm free and I soar?
Are you less if I am more?
Poems written by Natasha Josefowitz, Ph.D

The Bible says in Proverbs 18:22 that a man who finds a wife finds a good thing.

Then the world says, "he who lives in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."

I encourage you to strive to finish this race called life, like Paul. Acts 23:1- And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, "Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day."

Love is a choice. With God all things are possible. That toad really can become a prince or princess. Sometimes all it takes is kindness, a little time and most importantly, a little "I."
