Following a prayer for this generation's active troops and their families, the members stood as one, hands raised in salute, to pledge their allegiance to the nation's flagonce more.
Members being instated as officersthen held their right hands high as they repeated an oath stating, among many things, that they would act according to the organization's bylaws.
Other members then asked a prayer for their comrades who were becoming fellow officers. "We beseech thee O Lord, who are ever present among us, grant wisdom to them, so that in their deliberations they continue to favor thee, our glorious country, and to better our organization. May thy strength sustain them, may thy path preserve them, may thy hand protect them in faithful and truthful performances of their duties. Amen."
Stating that the new officerswould learn new responsibilities in order to intelligently act when duties arise, the time came to confirm:
"Officersyou now occupy the positions of honor to which your comrades have elected you."
A brief description of each officer's position and role was read aloud to the group as they continued to stand, as one, before the flags.
Post Commander Mike Walters was told to study the bylaws carefully since it is his duty to enforce the laws and rituals. In addition to Walters, the others honored were Senior Vice Commander Tom Lyvers, Junior Vice Commander Jack Granest, Quartermaster George LeDuc, Chaplain Bo Ford, trustees George Lee, Sam Davis and Bo Ford, Adjutant Lester Danner and past Post Commander Jim Beatty.
