Heloise Clement
She was born January 19, 1917, in the town of Pearson, GA, Atkinson County, to the late Joseph Siah and Margaret Meeks Starling. On December 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Henry L. "H.L." Clement in Atlanta, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.S. Starling and William Starling and one sister, Valerie Pebbles. Heloise was active in the Baptist churches she attended with her husband during their fifty-six year marriage. Whether helping with Girls in Action, serving on the WMU, or teaching Sunday School, Heloise was always active in her Christian faith and encouraged others to do the same. Heloise loved the outdoors, and her most beloved hobbies were enjoyed outdoors. She was an avid gardener and could nearly always be found among her many flower beds - a source of pride for Heloise and of enjoyment for many. She enjoyed R.V. camping and traveling with her husband and their Christian camping group, The Coffee Sippers. Other pastimes included fishing and relaxing in the mountains. The dream she shared with her husband of living in the mountains was realized in 2007 when they made their final home together in Hayesville, NC.
