Janet M. Briggs Herberger

Janet M. Briggs Heberger, 64 of the Tusquittee Community of Hayesville, NC died Monday, August 13, 2007, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Mrs. Heberger was a native of Piscataquis County, Maine and had lived in Cheshire, Connecticut before moving to Hayesville, NC ten years ago. Janet was the owner and operator of Florel Farm in Hayesville, NC, she loved painting, traveling, all animals and especially horses and dogs. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and she supported the Humane Society. Janet loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Briggs and Florence Bishop Briggs of Hayesville, NC and was preceded in death by her son Brent Lawrence.

She is survived in addition to her mother by her husband of twenty-seven years, Ned Heberger; four daughters, Kimberly Zielski of Cheshire, CT, Loretta Palauskas and her husband Steven of East Windsor, CT, Valerie Martin and Lisa Dudney both of Newport News, VA; three sons, Stephen F. Heberger of Brasstown, NC, Larry Heberger of Baltimore, MD and Douglas Heberger of Meriden, CT; two brothers, Gary Briggs and his wife Maureen of Dover Foxcroft, ME and Jeffrey Briggs and his wife Linley of Newburyport, MA; a sister, Mary Smith and her husband Earl of Nova Scotia, Canada and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 17, 2007, at the Townson Rose, Frank Rose, Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville, NC.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, August 16, 2007 and from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 17, 2007, at the Townson Rose Chapel in Hayesville, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made In Memory of Janet M. Heberger c/o Valley River Humane Society, P.O. Box 658, Murphy, NC 28906.
