Waldroup graduates

Matthew Curtis Waldroup, a member of Hayesville High School's class of 2003, graduated from Pfeiffer University in May with a degree in History. During his tenure at Pfeiffer, Matt was actively involved with Campus Life, serving as an Orientation Leader and an Executive Chair for the Programming and Activities Committee. He also competed all four years in NCAA Division II Cross County, received recognition as a scholar athlete, as well as being named team captain three out of four years. Matt earned recognition at the commencement ceremony with the highest honor for student service and leadership at Pfeiffer, the Order of the Sundial. His last semester at Pfeiffer was spent in Washington DC, where he participated in the Capitol Hill Internship Program, serving in the office of Georgia's senior senator, Saxby Chambliss. From there Matt took a job at Dutko Worldwide, a public policy management firm, which is consistently ranked by Fortune Magazine as a top ten lobbying firm. Though he has not made concrete plans, Matt hopes to stay in Washington, remaining active in the political process. Anna Mae Jones of Hayesville is the maternal grandmother. Harold and Lelia Waldroup of Hayesville are the paternal grandparents. Matt is the son of Theresa and Dean Waldroup of Young Harris, GA.
