Old Enough To Know Better
Old Enough To Know Better is an eclectic quartet that performs songs in a variety of styles with rich, close harmonies. Their repertoire includes original songs; shape-note hymns; Beach Boys, Beatles, and Ink Spots tunes; several bluegrass gospel songs; a Sea Island hymn from the Georgia coast; folk ballads; a hymn from the Episcopal Hymnal; songs from the doo-wop era; and more. Doug Oster (bass vocals, guitar, bass) sings in a wide range of voices, from low bass to baritone, in styles from classical to country. Larry Schulz (baritone vocals, guitar, bass, mandolin) has been in writing and playing music for the past 40 years. A scholar of Chinese language, Larry has written a doo-wop tune in Chinese that is part of the quartet's repertoire. Britt Dean (tenor vocals, guitar, percussion) has performed in quartets, choirs, summer stock theater and in a rock-and-roll band, with Larry Schulz in the late seventies. Allison Adams (alto vocals, guitar, concertina) began her musical journeys at the piano at age six, eventually moving to guitar and concertina. Since 2003, she has been one-third of Local Honey, a trio that performs "songs we like," whether it's jazz standards or Allison's originals.
