64 Garden Store & Nursery Center
" Stop and Smell the rosesand so much more..."
By: Debbie Walker Sentinel Writer

I know we all do it. Drive by a place that looks interesting and say, " I need to go in there". Well folks you needs to go in there.

What was once an old house and a wooded area is now a tranquil, peaceful and inviting learning experience as well as a great place to buy all your gardening needs.

Dean Smith and his wife, Marcile bought this little paradise in May 2006. With hard work and sweat they have transformed a piece of Highway 64 to a place that bring you back to the old days when buying plants and lawn furniture from an established Nursery was done. Both Dean and Marcile are knowledgeable and willing to help you in any way, as well as their staff.

Whether it's just a few small plants to spruce up your front entrance or a big planting job they are up for the challenge. They have trees, shrubs, pine and wheat straw, fertilizer, roses, and the ever popular Fall plantings such as Mums and soon the perky little faces of the Pansy.

Lawn furniture and statues grace the winging graveled paths to a next surprise around each corner. Frogs and birds peek out at you from under the plants and small garden statues such as rabbits and turtles hide their heads in the lushness. Bird feeders and water features are also a part of this playground. Wind chimes tinkle in the breeze as you walk the paths looking for your next purchase.

The aromas of dirt ( which smells good to me), mingles with the fragrances of flowers and plants waiting for a new home.

In the Little House which serves as a Gift Shop as well as their office, Step back in time, to a day gone by. My first thought was that at one time this was someone's home. Now it has been lovingly restored with it's pine paneled walls and polished floors. Inside you will find an array of crafted gifts for and about the Gardener. Comfy uniquely crafted lawn furniture invite you to sit and rest your tired feet. So next time you need a gift for the " What do I buy him or her now?" and thy enjoy getting down and dirty, Here is your answer. The 64 Garden Store & Nursery Center is more than a garden store.

But remember you don't have to be a Gardener to enjoy the experience of the 64 Garden Store & Nursery Center located at 4279 Hwy. 64 East, 4 miles from Hayesville. You just have to be a smart person who knows a good thing when they see it. There is nothing like strolling through this enchanted place. It's setting lets you forget that you are right on busy Highway 64. Come and wander the grounds and get that Zen-like feeling and plan your next gardening project.

So next time you are on your way to Murphy or Franklin for your gardening needs, sit back and think of thee suggestions:

1. Do I want to save $$$$?

2. Do I want to save Gas?

3 . Do I want to meet some nice people?

4 . Do I want a pleasant & relaxing shopping experience?

O r do I want to hear ." Potting Soil Spill on Aisle 7!!!"

You make the choice, Let's hope your choice will be the 64 Garden Store and Nursery Center.
