Louise Mayfield-Smart

Louise Mayfield-Smart, age 77 of Hayesville, NC passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, NC.

She was a native of Saint Clair County, Alabama and attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC, She was a homemaker and loved taking pictures of family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Dewitt Talmadge and Ethel Ruth Sparks Mayfield.She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roel "Brownie" Smart; a granddaughter, Skylar Marie Smart; a great grandson, Chase Smart; a brother, Rev. Buddy Mayfield and a sister, Bobbie Ivey.

She is survived by three sons, Roel David Smart and his wife Lynn of Chattanooga, TN, Gary Russell Smart and his wife Mary of Moss Point, MS and Anthony Wade Smart stationed at Fort Lee, VA; a daughter, Tami Adair and her husband Johnny of Hayesville, NC; two brothers, Rev. Paul Mayfieldand Rev. Leonard Mayfieldboth of Hayesville, NC; a sister, Alene Phillips of Hayesville, NC; five grandchildren, Lauren Smart, Shannon Hall, Rusty Smart, Zach Ledford and Brandon Ledford; seven great- grandchildren, Vanessa Hall, Sabrina Hall, Ashley Hall, Coleman Smart, Camren Smart, Keera Jade Smart and Caylee Smart and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC. Rev. Chris Rumfelt will officiate. Interment will be in the Ledford's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hayesville, NC. Pallbearers will be Rusty Smart, Jeff Ivey, Joe Rumfelt, Larry Rumfelt, Tommy Mayfield and Mike Callahan.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Townson Rose, Frank Rose, Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Memory of Louise Mayfield-Smart to the First Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1232, Hayesville, NC 28904 or Ledford's Chapel UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Betty Jane Ashe, 285 W.J. Cabe Road, Hayesville, NC 28904.
