Robert K. Scroggs
Robert was born in Hayesville, NC. He was the son of the late Pearl and Elizabeth Haigler Scroggs. He was a veteran of World War II serving in all fivecampaigns of the U.S. Army in France and Germany. Following his graduation with the class of 1950 at Western Carolina University, he became employed with the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington D.C. He retired as Personnel Director of the Bureau of Financial Management Services. He was a life long believer in Christ and a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Hayesville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Porter and Keith; two sisters, Kathryn and Rebecca and one great granddaughter, AnnaBeth Rinker. Robert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Steele Scroggs; a brother, Haigler Scroggs of Asheville, NC; a stepson, Jack Rinker and his wife Arlene of Haymarket, Virginia; three grandchildren, Kathy Neely and her husband Mark of Haymarket, VA, Kenneth Rinker and his wife Dana of Orlando, FLand Gary Rinker of Sterling, VA; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Trent Neely of Haymarket, VA and Madeleine and Haydn Rinker of Orlando, FL. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A. M., Friday, September 14, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Hayesville, NC. The Rev. Kirk Hatherly will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Rich, Richie Story, Austin Bradley, John Hay, George Keyes and Bob Schultz. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A. M. until 11:00 A. M. Friday, September 14, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Hayesville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made In Memory of Robert K. Scroggs to the First United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 85, Hayesville, NC 28904. Tributes may be sent to the Scroggs family at www.mem.com.
