Many Forks Baptist Church

Many Forks Baptist Church of Gumlog, Ga , will be having a Fall Celebration on October 31, 2007, beginning at 5 p.m. There will be games for the kids and also for adults followed by hot dogs & hamburgers, with all the trimmings and finishing up with a hay-ride.

The congregation along with their Pastor, RL Martin would truly enjoy your fellowship on this night.

Murphy Library

It is 1935 and the middle of the Great Depression in the mountains of Tennessee. Cherokee medicine man Willow John is telling a young Indian boy about his noble ancestors. He speaks softly but draws strength as he goes along. His voice becomes the slow-beating drum of narrator and chorus as thousands of Cherokee make their way in his memories along the Trail of Tears.

Actor Graham Greene stars in this Canadian production about a young Cherokee boy (Josh Ashton) growing up in Appalachia. Filmed in the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains, the Murphy Public Library will show this PG-rated film in honor of American Indian Heritage month on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come.

Daughters of the British Empire

Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) is hoping to establish a local chapter in the North Georgia/Western North Carolina mountains area and would like to contact eligible women. The organization ,which has been in existence for nearly a century has been a common bond for women of British heritage living in the USA. Members, joining together in fellowship, contribute significantly to the good of their local communities and support the four retirement homes for men and women established by the DBE.

The DBE is a charitable,nonprofit, nonpolitical American organization and membership is extended to women of British or British Commonwealth birth or ancestry and to women married to men of British or British Commonwealth birth. Membership is organized on a chapter basis and meetings are held monthly usually followed by an informal social time over a cup of tea or coffee and British goodies.

Park Performance

The Licklog Players will be performing Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park" November 2-4 & 9-11 at the Peacock Playhouse in Hayesville. The show, directed by Laurel Adams, is rated PG.

A Reception will be held on Saturday, November 3rd from 4 - 6 PM at the Hiawassee Grille (Fieldstone) Restaurant honoring Brenda Jacobs. Brenda is retiring after 20 years of service as the Administrative Executive for the North East Georgia Board of Realtors, all family and friends are welcome.

Shiloah Baptist Church

Shiloah Baptist Church will be having a singing on Sunday, November 4th at 6:00 pm. The Lord's Messengers from Alto, GA will be singing. Rev. Clark Moss invites everyone to attend.

Hiawassee River Valley Kennel Club

Tri-State Model Railroaders

Tri-State Model Railroaders will hold their next meeting on Monday, Nov.5, 2007. A "Pot Luck" supper will begin at 5pm. The meeting will begin at 6pm. and will be followed by a Silent Auction at 7pm. This will take place at "Shepherd of the Hills" Luthern Church located at 823 Forge Mill Rd. at Hiway 515 near Morganton,Ga. Anyone interested in model railroading is welcome to attend.
