Art Center announces November classes

The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association will be offering the following classes starting in November:

Terry Madden Watercolors with instructor Joy Lyons will be held Tuesdays and Wednesdays November 6, 7, 13 and 14 from 10:00 - 12:30. This course uses the Terry Madden technique to learning watercolors. Beginning and intermediate students welcome. All supplies included.

Drawing for Painting will be taught by Blairsville artist Colleen Sterling on Tuesdays beginning November 6 and will continue for 6 weeks. Class times are 1:00 - 3:30. Learn foundational drawing skills that can be readily applied to painting techniques, balancing a composition, recognition of tonal variations and rendering volume.

Introduction to Photoshop Elements 5.0. Award-winning photographer Joyce Dumas will teach the aspects of Elements used by most photographers to process, enhance and print their photographs. Covered will be resizing & cropping, exposure correction, color enhancement, sharpening techniques, special effects and more. This is a one-day workshop - Saturday November 10, 9:00 - 5:00.

Heart, Hands & Healing Art with instructor Vicki Wagoner is a relaxed, creative class where students paint with their hands. This technique opens the mind to previously hidden resources of new ideas and talents as well as understanding and releasing of limiting thoughts. Express yourself artistically! Students have a choice of two class times - the evening of Tuesday, November 13, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. or Saturday, November 17, 10:00 - Noon.

Needle Felted Christmas Dolls. North Carolina artist Bobbi Umbach will teach this wonderful class in making Christmas characters. Create a whimsical wool figure out of carded wool using a special 'felting' needle. No sewing, no patterns, every doll is an original. Make a fairy, elf, Santa… the only limitation is your imagination. If you would like to see one of these delightful dolls, stop by the Art Center. This workshop will be held on Monday, November 19 from 9:00 - 5:00
