Pet costume contest raised good samaritan funds
The Second Annual Halloween Costume Contest for Pets fundraiser for the John Todd, Jr. Good Samaritan Fund was recently held on October 27th 2007 at Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital in Young Harris. The event was a lot of fun and over $1,800 was raised for the fund. This fund was able to help 26 pets receive medical care throughout the past year that otherwise would not have received it. Pet costume contest awards were also given out for the best costumes in several different categories. The judges for the event were Helen Abercrombie from Humane Society Mtn. Shelter, Victoria Linsley from Whiskers Project, Michelle Fusco from N. Ga. SPCA, Ann Betting from Castaway Critters, and Ben Sutton from Chef Ben's Catering. In addition, four homeless pets were adopted out to new homes as a result of the participation of these animal adoption organizations. There were also many local businesses and individuals who contributed funds or gifts for our raffle:Affordable Pet Care, Always Christmas, Appalachian Bowling Center, Appalachian Community Bank, Bayer Animal Health, Bi-Lo, Body Sense, Brasstown Valley Resort, Carriage House Framing & Gallery, Curves, Daniels Steak House, Deb Collins Signature Gallery, Down To Earth Garden Center, Eagle Mtn.
