Scott, County Extension Director from the North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension, will be conducting a one-day Grant Writing seminar. This one-day seminar will be held Monday, December 3, 2007 from 9am to 3pm at One Dozen Who Care, Inc, Suite 6 in Andrews, North Carolina. Although there is no fee, registration is required. ODWC is a non-profit 501c3 corporation, with the mission to strengthen local leadership and create strong community bonds through cultural events and common social and economic interactions of the local population. 6th Annual Toys for Tots Dance High Mountain Squares will host their 6th Annual Toys for Tots Dance this Sunday Dec 2nd at the Macon County Community Building from 2:00 to 5:00PM. Entrance fee is a new unwrapped toy from infants through teens. They will be collected by the US Marine Corps League durning the dance. For more information, call 1-800- 365-5724 or 828-837-2775 or visit www. folkschool.org. 3rd Annual Cookie Swap in Stecoah Valley On Saturday, December 1, Stecoah Valley Center will host their 3rd Annual Cookie Swap and Party starting at 10 a.m. The cookie party will provide participants with a commercial kitchen to prepare their recipes while making enough cookies to share with six others so that everyone will go home with between six and seven dozen cookies. If you would like to participate in this year's event, please call 828- 479-3364 to reserve your space. Due to limited space, the class size limit is seven. The cost is $20.00 per person and includes the following: use of kitchen equipment, cookie sheets, mixer, convection oven, mixing bowls, etc. The fee also covers some basic cookie ingredients including, all purpose flour, white sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and vanilla. Participants will be responsible for bringing all other ingredients their recipe requires such as nuts, fruits, butter, shortening, etc. MOAA Christmas Party Please to be ready to make your reservation for the MOAA Christmas party to be held December 10 at the Old Hiawassee Grill (formerly Fieldstone). The cost will be $31 per attendee, including tax and tip, a cash bar will be available. The restaurant requires a significant deposit by mid November so members were requested to pay at the November meeting. Breakfast With Santa Stecoah Valley Center invites kids of all ages to have Breakfast With Santa. Santa will be making two stops at the Center on Saturday, December 15 and Saturday, December 22, both at 9:30 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, juice and milk. The cost is $3 per person and pictures with Santa are also available for $5 each. Make your reservations early as seating is limited due to Santa's busy schedule.
