TCCC Criminal Justice Students hold Mock Trial

Prosecutor Misty Williams questions Crime Scene Technician Kelly Holden while Judge Denny looks on.
Students in Allen Denny's Court Procedure & Evidence course at Tri-CountCommunity College got a taste of what they can expect from a career in law enforcement at the Cherokee County Courthouse on November 29.

The students held a mock trial based on a case they worked throughout the semester. Denny sets up a scenario and a crime scene. Students must investigate and gather evidence, while learning about rules of evidence and admissibility in court as well as court procedures. Students play a role in the case as police, attorneys, defendants, witnesses, crime scene technicians and more.

"It's a great learning experience for students," said Denny. "They will have to know everything we learn and being able to hold the trial in the real-life setting of a courtroom is invaluable." said Denny.
